A lovely activity to do on a nature walk.

I printed a visual sheet off for Finley as he is so young and has developmental delays. I used a free picture creating software online called lunapic. I have used it for years! (2025 update- use Canva!) If you go on effects and click blend two images together it'll let you paste images where you want them to create one image. Or of course you could do the same on a word document however I do not have word on my laptop so this is the alternative! If you have older children you could just type up things to find or let them make their own sheets.
This is a sample sheet of one of the sheets we used:

We made a clipboard from a board we already had and a peg. It was a windy day so you can't actually see the sheets but you get the idea. Don't forget to take a pen so you can tick off things and also a bag to put the things into.

After collecting everything on the list we then returned home to make the bug house. We used a wooden box for this. Of course the contents will not last long and you would have to remove the box after so long due to rotting but never the less, a simple activity that can be re-created. Or you could go all out and create a 'proper' bug house which is more sustainable.

Here's the finished result. It's not perfect but then again it isn't really the end result that counts it's the fun of finding things to make walks more enjoyable!
